Indian Bed (Local Version): My association and comfort in rural spaces comes from my background growing up in a small village in Telangana. Extending my idea of rural and urban spaces and behaviors, I looked at the bed as a way to relax and an object that can be represented in various ways depending on the region and availability of local materials. I made one out of the gunny bags, which was then stuffed with the rice hay (easily available in the fields), instead of cotton to make it completely utilitarian and ready to use. This ‘Indian bed’ became the best example for combining rural and urban sensibilities.
